Rumors about ECNL girls admitting one or more top GA clubs for 24-25 season.

Heard from a few people here in MA that South Shore Select is joining ECNL (from GA) with an announcement as early as tomorrow. I would have put this in the "when hell freezes over category." We'll see soon enough I guess.

Agreed. Capitalism is not a Free Market system. It ia a heavily regulated system in favor of Corperations and Finacial Institutions.
What we have in our current system is socialism for the corporations and entrenched interests and everyone else gets to fight for scraps in the "free market"

That is pretty much the same thing I said. America (Capitalisim) is not a Free Market system.

For sure, in AZ the ECNL/EA teams are not great. Actually, there are some pretty bad MLSN teams too. That said, if ECNL can tell Surf to drop boys DA (then) for boys ECNL to get their girls into ECNL, then they can do it to anyone. From an AZ perspective, they could tell say Rising and if Rising said no, they'd kick them - its not like any of the AZ girls ECNL clubs rock it after all.

And yes, Tuzos are the best boys development club in AZ, hands down.

The problem in AZ with the state leagues is that the big clubs created SAAZ and pulled their teams. They then demonstrated that they could do just as bad a job in a diluted league with many divisions made up of teams from the 2 clubs only ... an absolute shit show.
ECNL making the boys program join ECNL was not a requirement by ECNL for the girls program to be added. (really? ECNL would turn down Surf Girls?) Surf made a decision at the time that ECNL boys was the better decision for the program. I believe the same was true for the Pats. Both of the boys programs were extremely strong in the DA program before it folded. The new MLSN league was unproven and ECNL was chosen.

Clearly the new SDFC will be looking for local talent as time goes on and it will be hard for the Surf Boys to keep players that are recruited by SDFC.

No clue, but it would be nice for everyone to have more local clubs to play against.

It's silly that Socal players are driving to Vegas, AZ, or the Central Valley just for higher level competition when the same level of competition is available locally

Would love to compete with you guys in San Diego. Not much competition with the current programs. Rebels have a team or two and Del Mar is really struggling.

Not so sure about that.

The MLS homegrown rule applies to all players in a 60 (or 70 not quite sure) mile radius of the club. What this means is that SDFC can pull/claim talent from Tijuana. My bet is that this is where they get most of their players. I also bet they make a lot of $$$ selling off players with transfer fees.

So same league now but 3rd team. ECNL- RL 2?
DPL helped GA get off the ground when it first started. I think DPL also controls the GA board of directors.

My bet is that DPL and ECRL start doing combined showcases. Financially it's in both leagues best interests and helps scouts. Also ECNL no longer has to put as much resources into ECRL and DPL gets control of the 2nd team market.

But who knows that's just my guess.

I can’t keep up with all the leagues! 🤣

Think about the registration platforms....

GA now sanctioned by US Soccer so leaving USSSA
ECNL & RL both register under US Club Soccer
DPL uses USSSA for registration

My guess is the move by US Soccer to take the GA in will trigger a new league in the GA, essentially the NWSL Next everyone keeps talking about. If you notice several GA clubs are getting 2 teams in the GA, this could be to spin them in the NWSL Next league....

This now would leave DPL as the 3rd tier for that league. No idea what the announcement will be but hopeful it is a promotion relegation or a combining of leagues...

promotion/relegation would be awesome. Keep the clubs on their toes. My guess is they are formalizing the tier system with GA. GA first team.. DPL second. Of course that will come with badging changes because why not.. makes everyone buy new stuff. Now the NWSL next could add another wrinkle but not sure the NWSL clubs have the money the MLS do for academies. Would be more like a MSL-Next lite as it would be name only possible path for the "homegrown" label for draft.

I agree, formalizing NWSL Next is worthless until NWSL implements a homegrown rule.

I really hope when NWSL Next happens that they just copy everything MLS Next has already setup. 🙏 It would make everything so much easier for everyone involved.

I'd love it if we had a clear pipeline. But until US Soccer takes a more prominent and forceful role in all of this on both the girls and boys side, I don't see how we get far
