Team's First Aid kit

SILVER ELITE
We were lucky to have multiple nurses and PT on the team. This year, not so much. Can you tell me what should be in the first aid kit besides the usual band aids, cold/hot packs etc?

CSL provided to each team a very comprehensive, pre-packaged, first aid kit a few years ago. Very helpful, if not overly inclusive.

You definitely want some kind of antiseptic wipes for the scrapes. Cotton balls are also handy for bloody noses that inevitably occur even without contact on hot/dry summer days. Athletic tape (plus the wrap to put under to protect the skin) is useful for all sorts of things. An ace bandage or two is also helpful, although they really aren't going to be as good as one of those ankle wraps if you don't have someone trained at wrapping ankles. They are mostly helpful to keep ice in place on the right spot.

You know what works really good for bloody noses:

GET COTTON MOUTH
Roll a piece of tissue or a cotton ball and place it in your mouth, right under your nose, between your upper lip and gums. Leave it there for 5 to 10 minutes. The cotton applies pressure to the blood vessels that send blood to your nose.

One of my sons best friends would get the bloody noses every once in a while and the above trick would work all the time.

Instant Ice Packs, Ktape, Trainers Tape, antiseptic spray, the Bactine one with the pain relieving ingredients works well,

The "magic spray" an aerosol freeze spray to relief pain, be careful with these on young children. Mueller Coolant Cold Spray does help relieve swelling and worked for my kids.

Not necessarily in the first aid kit but nice to have:

Cooling pads those ones with the Evaporative, Cooling, the Frogg Toggs ones works well, in hot weather can also see hand towels in the cooler, pass them out at half or after the game.

Electrolyte tablets or Gatorade chews chews helps to reduce dehydration, muscle cramps.

Deep Tissue Massage Ball helps muscle fatigue and tightness
