National Cup Seedings

PREMIER
Seedings are out and it really seems like Apple Valley got the shaft. They won the Premier Division in CSL over both Tudela and South Valley, both of which got the first round bye. Just an observation.

Yea, but Apple Valley didn't make it into CRL. They are giving the byes to the top teams of CRL.

One more seeding that makes zero sense. Someone enlighten me. G1 #19 Hawks G2005 Academy Basso. Finished 3-7 in Flight one. Lost big to 4 different teams that are seeded below them in league?

Disappointed to see a team with a team in their bracket that’a local rival/ in their local flight so we played them several times already..Who does the seeding? There are more than enough teams to avoid this.

That happen to my daughter's team a few year's ago when she was U11. We finished 2nd during the CSL league and in the first round of the Governor's Cup, we got matched up with the team the finished 1st. Even that coach was pissed off that thy had to play us for a 3rd time.

Cal south let's you "buy" a seeding and bypass the 1st round. Pay the big $$ for CRL and get a free pass. Not about fairness or who earned what sometimes, $$ takes priority.

Teams still have to win their CRL playin games to be in CRL league. Not always the best teams in it, but everyone is allowed to compete. Also, not all the "big $$" paying teams in CRL got a bye, only the top teams.

Ok thanks for correction for the boys all crl teams get a bye so maybe it's different for the girls. Either way getting a free pass for some based on another non- related paid comp is payola anyway you slice it.

Add no not everyone is approved for play-in or can afford those fees & travel.

Seeding is based on crl results along with last years national cup results.

The rules say --

5.6. Entries into the National Cup will be seeded and placed in brackets based primarily on California Regional League participation and the previous year’s National Cup results, providing that the team returning has on their current season’s roster nine (9) players common. If a team has changed their club affiliation since last year, or if a team has changed their team number or made a change to their name, the NCPC must be notified in writing (email will suffice) of these changes when the team first applies to the tournament.

It would be nice to see more details of how that process is intended to work.
