Mayors Cup

It is with great sadness that we have been mandated to cancel the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup. This affects both weekends, Dec 5-6 & Dec 12-13, 2020.

Tonight, in order to prevent further spread of COVID-19, the Governor of Nevada announced that Youth and Adult tournaments are paused for 3 weeks. This is heartbreaking for us. We always believed we could operate a safe tournament under protocols approved by our State Government. Sadly, we were a small part of a sweeping measure from our Governor.

It is particularly troubling that we will not be able to host so many teams which have not played any organized soccer since the beginning of the year. We wanted to provide the opportunity for many teams to compete in our event. In an effort to ease your disappointment, we offer to extend your team's registration to our February tournament, the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup International Showcase.

Forget about all these tournaments. We should just set up scrimmages with local teams. 50 people max. Heck we can even setup up our own underground league.
I’m in. No teams, just a bunch of kids same age plus or minus a year difference. 20 minute games at a certain day and hour every week. This is how they do it South America. I had a blast as a kid playing and it didn’t matter how good or bad you were. We all played every day in the summer for hours. The best players (Select few) would join an academy and we would see them return to play with the rest of the neighborhood kids during the holidays.

Informal poll. Are most teams taking the full refund or transferring it to the mayors cup tournament in February?
Our club hasn’t asked us yet.

Really hard to keep getting the energy to sign up for something, train for it, and have it yanked away.

More likely to keep it small and local, like Luis is saying.

Besides, rumor on the new state guidance is that it will ban tournaments and out of state play.
