I don't like posting to these type of forums + prefer to sit on the sidelines and get info.

However with all the Covid discussions going on I've been "triggered" into providing numbers based what's actually going on in SD.

Background...
- San Diego Covid data can be found here / https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/cont...mmunity_epidemiology/dc/2019-nCoV/status.html
- San Diego number of Deaths Per Year can be found here / https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/me/press/stats.html

From the SD Covid numbers site you can see below...
Positive Cases in San Diego County Since February 14, 2020

While this looks scary it's designed to be that way. It's showing the number of positive Covid cases only. Lets look a little deeper...

From the SD Covid site lets look at the number of deaths that have occurred since the beginning of this year.

If you don't want to look at the pdf here's a screenshot...

Lets combine the data...
1. Currently there are 67241 positive Covid tests in SD
2. Currently there are 2643 positive Covid cases for between the ages of 0-9 years
3. Currently there are 6706 positive Covid cases for between the ages of 10-19 years
4. Currently there are 0 Covid related deaths between the ages of 0-9 years
5. Currently there are 0 Covid related deaths between the ages of 10-19 years

Out of the 67241 positive Covid tests in SD roughly 14% were between the ages of 0-19 and there were 0 deaths in that age group associated with Covid.

From number of Covid related deaths its clear that...
1. Between ages of 0-39 account for roughly 1-2% of all Covid deaths in SD.
2. Between ages of 40-49 account for roughly 3-4% of all Covid deaths in SD.
3. The ages of 50+ account for roughly 94% of all Covid deaths in SD. *

* One item I heard from a doctor friend is that many Covid deaths are because of existing and possibly related illnesses. The implication was that if someone with Covid was 300lbs overweight, smoked, and had diabetes was Covid purely the cause of death?

If you look at the SD yearly number of deaths available below you'll find...

2019 = > 23000 deaths (not all deaths are registered with the SD Medical Examiner)
2018 = > 22000 deaths (not all deaths are registered with the SD Medical Examiner)

Noting that the number of deaths went up 1000 between 2017 and 2018 I'm going to extrapolate that without Covid the number of SD deaths would > 24000. Add in the number of Covid cases currently 945 it looks like there will be > 25000 deaths in SD in 2020

According to wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Diego the current population of SD is 1423851

What does all this mean?
1. .0007% of the current San Diego population has died from Covid in 2020
2. .0176% of the current San Diego population dies each year
3. 0% of the current San Diego population under the age of 19 has died from Covid
4. .0006% of the current San Diego population between the age of 20-49 has died from Covid

Just an FYI...
1. Your chances to win a 1 in 300,000,000 lottery = .003%
2. Your chances to lose a 1 in 300,000,000 lottery = 99.9967%

Just FYI the data is county wide put your population is for the City only.
