With 75% of the season complete and teams heading into a 3-4 month break for high school season, figured I'd copy and paste the below updated club standings for the 2021-22 from the ntx boards for discussion...

PPG Club (Goal Dif)..........W - L - T
2.76 Solar (+343)................85-1-10
2.27 FC Dallas (+149)........61-13-12
1.94 DKSC (+118)..............54-23-13
1.43 Texans (-6).................40-39-17
1.38 OK Energy (+10).........34-35-17
1.29 Sting Black (-31)........36-46-8
1.11 Albion (-26)................23-37-23
1.08 Sting Austin (-89)......28-49-13
1.00 Classics Elite (-124)..26-52-13
0.97 Tulsa SC (-110)..........22-47-17
0.93 Challenge (-83)..........20-46-17
0.71 Sting Royal (-151)......17-58-8

Based on those numbers I would assume that Solar is able to consolidate all of the top NTX talent into one club. Any insight on how they are able to do that? That type of consolidation will probably never happen here in Socal.

Apples and oranges.

All of Solar, FC Dallas, Sting, and Texans train within 20 miles of each other. Solar is picking off most of the top players in the area, but is able to do so because the barrier to switching clubs is quite low (the worst case scenario for most players is maybe an extra 30 minute drive).

There are more talented soccer players in the Socal stretch from San Diego to LA, but obviously not the same concentration like North Dallas where all the clubs are relatively easily accessible.

Right now Solar is where the top NTX players are congregating, but these things are cyclical. Each of Sting, Texans, FC Dallas, and Solar has had their turn as the top club in the area over the past few decades. Although probably nobody has ever had the stranglehold on talent across just about every age group that Solar has right now.

How are they able to do that at this time? Just curious.
Surf seems like they're doing that in SD area. But in OC/LA seems competition is fierce and no such consolidation like that seems possible...

I think one of the only markets that is similar to Dallas is Atlanta, where you have 5 ECNL clubs plus Top Hat all relatively close to each other (The other being Northern VA/ D.C.).

In Atlanta Concord Fire seems to be the top choice, and Top Hat is still solid at the older ages (but obviously losing a ton of talent at the younger ages because they are still locked out of ECNL) but I don’t see anything (on paper) where one club is dominating like Solar is. I don’t live in GA but that market looks like musical chairs over the last couple years more than most with the DA implosion.

ECNL playoffs should be very interesting this year to see if Solar is able to dominate playoffs when it counts. I know they have done real well in most showcases, so time will tell......But this kind of club domination is unheard over past years at this level.

Gotta think Solar are favored to win it all in the U13, U14, U15, and U16 age groups. That said, being "favored" still means none of them probably have more than a 30% chance of winning a championship (other than the 07s, who are as close to a lock to win it all as you'll ever see in youth soccer).

Yes I agree, the Solar 07G are as dominate as they come. Being last years National Champion, all they did this past year was reload with even more top talent.......Will be very hard to knock off the mountain top.

I have an 07, (Scorpions ECNL) so I pay a lot of attention to that age group. Curious, did Solar cut and add, or just add?

My kid is on a different Solar team, but we scrimmage them occasionally. I could be wrong but I believe two left the club and two left to play their own age group. I do know they brought in 4 new players who are all very good. They're basically a Texas Conference all-star team that is just ridiculously deep (more than a dozen YNT-level players).

Solar 07 may be the best pound for pound team in the country. The toughest team we see up here in the north east is the PDA Blue team. They lost 0-1 to Solar in the Jefferson Cup finals a couple years ago, but I think both teams have changed a lot since then.

For Solar, six of the ties and the only loss are from the 05 team (whose two best players are playing up with the 04s). The other 5 age groups have 76 wins, no losses, four ties, and a plus 319 GD in what is probably the 2nd toughest conference in the country.

The Solar 06s have a loss at the ECNL Showcase in San Diego. I think you are referring to conference play only though.

Solar deservingly has nine 07s on Top Drawer's Top 150 list for the class of 2025, and that list doesn't (yet) include two of the new girls who are among their highest impact players. I believe there are at least two more on the team who will likely be in the Top 10 for class of 2026. So that team has girls coming off the bench who will be getting YNT consideration. Ridiculous.

Yep. Lost to Blues. Hope to get a rematch in Virginia this summer.
Blues won’t make it to Virginia this summer…Surf and LAFC are better. Blues will be fighting it out for 3rd place in the SW league with Rebels (and so would Solar if they were in the SW league).

HA HA, I seriously doubt that.......The Solar 06G team just swept through the Florida showcase last weekend.....

Solar 06’s results over the past 2 years against Surf and Blues…
1 tie and 4 losses.
If Solar was in the Southwest ECNL league with LAFC, Blues, Surf and the others—it would be slightly more difficult for them.
Maybe if you played quality teams more frequently, the ECNL finals wouldn’t be a bridge too far.
