G2010...How is the 2021 season going?

Any big moves/trades in the works or are parents likely to have their GOATS stay put after a year of very little competition? Seems some clubs are holding full-on tryouts and others more low-key “ID sessions.” Can’t imagine the top teams take a year off from recruiting even under these circumstances.

I was just thinking what on earth it will be like under these conditions with those who have U11s GOATS and boom, someone is already bringing up tryouts and full on recruiting tactics. I think the first question we used to ask is who will be the coach for your goat and at what club will they be at this year. Coaches hop around from time to time. Coach at this age is most important, is all I can say. My dd was recruited full court press at this age and Blues won. We paid for the service of a great coach for two years. I say 100% Blues will be top team in Socal with SD Surf a close second. Who has early 2021 round out the top 5? I hope ALL the kids can play soon. My dd is turning 17 tomorrow and it's almost all over fellas and mama bears of baby 10 year old GOATS. Enjoy the special moments because before you know it, their walking out the door and going on a date :)

Ok, I’ll take that bet. I say the SD Surf betters Blues in 2021. I said before that anyone that underestimates this team will be in for a suprise. I have no doubt the Dallas Texans will tell you something similar. Their coach will be one that has won State, Regionals and Nationals (rotation time) so they should be in good hands. Winning begets winning. There was consolidation last year and there may be some additional consolidation this year if the rumors are true. However only action on the field will have the final say.

Given that 8 players currently on the roster are former SDSC players, your views shouldn't surprise anyone, nor should Surf being a top team at any age at some point. Of course they will. Most of the best players will inevitably gravitate there, and those players who are at the margin will get pushed aside. As parent you just hope your kid isn't one of them. The same happens at Blues, and Slammers and the other top dogs in a region. It has been this way for years and will continue to be this way. So, I don't think anyone is underestimating Surf, or if they are, they don't understand youth soccer in Southern California.

Bingo!!!

Don’t believe everything that you hear. It was 4.
Last year from SDSC Navy. Other SDSC players have gone to the team in previous years. One came from the 2nd team. The previous poster is right and of course its that way. Surf doesn’t have a organic supply of players from a rec program. They have to come from somewhere. SDSC has strong young team because of where they are located and have a large rec program. All the clubs in San Diego have value and purpose. Surf just happens to serve the advanced players needs, particularly as the kids get older.

That is so true. This guy Fact and EOTL told everyone on here and in the SD community that I, Crush, packaged a deal to bring 5 Blues players to Surf in 2016 in one of the biggest news stories in socal soccer at the time. If you bring 5 out of towners then that means 5 local kids get passed over or sent to B team or they go over to Carlsbad. That brings in bad vibes with all the native locals, trust me :( I got so many dirty looks. I now know assholes were telling people behind my back that I was the one responsible for bringing the others and making the Doc kiss my ass because well, that's how to play youth soccer. Go around looking for a Doc to give me what I want. To be honest, my dd went for the coach and I went for the free handout because I was told by every Doc in Socal that all GDA teams have to be fully funded. That is why I thought Blues was toast. Ranch was shut down too so they had no fields and the GDA brass said you better get fields, fully fund and have A coaching and no less then B coaches.

So clubs like SDSC, Temecula Hawks ((Purchased by Legends)), Laguna United develops the goat and then Surf buys the goat when developed?

Essentially, just like virtually all Nationally ranked clubs. Every business has to have a specialized brand. Notice In-n-Out doesn’t have much on the menu, but what it does, it does very well? Imagine if they tried to compete with Ruths Chris? They would go out of business. Del Mar Sharks can’t compete with Surf at the elite level (at least consistently) unless it totally dedicated its brand (time, resources and capacity). Del Mar is a community organization and that should drive its business decisions. There is a reason Surf, Blues and similar clubs have succeeded over the years. They have defined an identity and work toward being the best that they can with that identity. Obviously imperfectly, but they have succeeded where other clubs that don’t have that clarity haven’t and will not.

GOATS are born not developed. Development comes later. Surf just sits and waits for it all to play out. If you build it, they will come.

The great Tad told me that and i believe you and him. My dd was born to play soccer. She loves to play the game and I mean that 100%. The politics and some of the men who control this beautiful game sucks!!!

Sound like these two teams should find a way to play. @Luis Andres @Surfer_dad you guys should set up a home and home. Saturday in SD, Sunday in OC. Champions League rules, most cumulative goals wins, tiebreaker is away goals. Might as well play 45's while you're at it. And make sure both games are recorded and links are posted on this forum. Thanks in advance, I'll have my popcorn ready.

I swear I would pay $49.95 PPV. LUis is the real deal and can promote this game big time. I could sell commercials for refi's, private soccer training, privates on "how I can make your dd faster although it's never going to happen", or have my pal Demitri from Newport Coast buy a spot to share with us "how to buy a house with someone living there and refusing to leave or pay rent."
