Texas ECNL and Frontier Conference

Just checking in on the peeps in TX...I hear things are still moving forward and ECNL is still on track to start last weekend in August. Any news to report in the Lone Star State?

Still on track to play.

Related note, last weekend is one of the bigger dates on the Dallas soccer calendar - Classic League qualifying. Lake Highlands Classic League is generally considered to be the top local league for teams that aren't in ECNL or ECRL. Dozens and dozens of of teams were fighting for spots in the league in the final qualification tournament this past weekend.

The league made a rule that only one parent per player was allowed to attend the games, they had to wear a mask, social distance, and weren't allowed out of the car until 10 minutes before kickoff. The bitching from anti-maskers and 1st amendment shouters was epic on social media (we are Texas, after all).

But cooler heads prevailed as everyone realized it isn't about the parent's "rights" to watch the games or fighting "the Man" and his silly rules (well, silly for some people) but it is about the kids and a sport they love to play. Sacrificing some things (many parents alternated halves in the field and in the car because there were monitors counting players and counting parents) is a small price to pay to ensure the kids get to compete. Games went on as scheduled and there were not any major incidents or backlash.

As long as player to player transmission remains extremely low, as long as people continue to abide by the rules that will ensure spectator to spectator transmission is low, and as long as families and coaches are responsible, open, and conservative about possible exposure in the home environment, I think club games are going to go on as scheduled here this fall.

Unless there is consistent testing of everyone, no one knows who has it and is asymptomatic.

Obviously. That is why all those additional procedures are mandated. They further reduce risk of spread via asymptomatic carriers who aren't weeded out by the symptom and temperature check.

Outdoor soccer is proving to not be a contributor the the spread of Covid, and it is made even less so when people follow these additional mandates.

lol.... sure..... why yuh hang around here wanting everything canceled and chatting sh!t then?? D1 is a nice internet STORY.... enjoy wcfc.....
Most of the folks that did GDA was for the college connection, not to be truly world class. World class players always look to play soccer :)

Most if not all clubs have been practicing, scrimmaging and participating in tournaments. My DD has been attending her local high school strength and conditioning sessions as well as private conditioning and camps. Her team manager has shared a preliminary ECNL schedule that restricts games to one per weekend. The thought is to eliminate hotel or overnight stays as much as possible. So far, I have not heard of any pause or delay, so the Texas ECNL season seems to be on schedule.
We aren't practicing (officially) but am happy someone is and has a season to look forward to

I dont want to start up our old rants. I mean I really want to, but for the sake of peace Kicker, I will just say it's between "many' and "some."
Since you have no clue about the MANY (there are literally THOUSANDS of them) you can’t say anything but some to few! PERIOD!

In Socal, it was for sure between many and some. I was there, I should know. It's all good Kicker. I'm just trying to find a darn soccer game for my dd before she turns 18. Agree to disagree. The league is no more anyways so why argue. We all know what ECNL is all about, right?

How do you know it has not contributed unless there is consistent testing, sort of like what Trump does. It's great they are physically distancing at all times, on and off the field, but unless there is consistent, consistent testing someone who does not have symptoms can pass it on to someone else who is also asymptomatic but then gives it to someone who gets very sick. We all want youth sports to come back everywhere. Hopefully by early next year we will have an effective vaccine or two.

Well I don't know, all I can do is go by what the data and reporting shows. And it isn't the testing, but rather the contact tracing (I agree neither of which are as widespread as they need to be, BTW) that leads to the conclusion that soccer games and practices are fairly safe for the players involved.

There have been hundreds of thousands of soccer games and practices involving hundreds of thousands of players around the world these past few months (and thousands of each here in Texas) and there has yet to be a single report that anyone has seen of a confirmed player to player transmission on an outdoor field.

Meanwhile, there are hundreds of reports every day and warnings from officials about the data showing very specific and detailed virus transmission events at bars, weddings, churches, event spectating (including soccer), etc.

If an outdoor soccer soccer practice/scrimmage/game had a single incident of being the source of virus super spreading among players anywhere in the world, we would know about it.

Just because soccer "looks like a bad idea" to you or others during these crazy times, does not make it so. All available facts and the data suggest the on field activity is very, very low risk with regards to Covid transmission.

Some data from Texas high schools...

65,290 kids participated in strength and conditioning training and football practices this summer.

278 tested positive for Covid (274 contracted it at home, and four contracted it from other sick kids at the training and football practices).

4 kids needed hospitalization (zero deaths).

So out of more than 65,000 kids, there were a total of four Covid cases that were traced to player-to-player transmission at practice. That is 0.006%.

That seems pretty dang low risk and soccer seems similarly low risk. Tournaments and practices have been ongoing here for several months without a single reported case of player-to-player transmission on the field. ECNL schedules are released (limited overnight travel), and I think we are going to be playing games this fall.

In Texas the week before last and this week. Teams are training, playing tournaments, and you can find the ECNL Texas Schedules if you dig hard enough. Looks like they are starting 8/29 and 9/5 for the season. DD is looking to catch on with a team that is a fit and play until things get back to “normal“ in CA. I gotta say the facilities at a couple of places here are legit—-Toyota Soccer Center, and Moneygram Park are really, really, good IMHO.

Moneygram is a nice facility. Both my girls did Super Copa there. Pitch plays well.

Genuinely curious about how you would go about making that happen? Do you have a home in TX as well? Would you just move your DD there for school and then get on with a team there?

Hey Dubs, Woobie is from Texas and seems to be able to work from anywhere. I have that in my life as well. I can live and work from anywhere and still put food on the table. I would probably have moved so my goat can play but my dd loves Cali too much and the waves and so does my son. In fact, my wife and I love it here as well. I've lived here my whole life and I'm not leaving unless_____________________________wins and it gets dangerous here. I want all of us to get along and respect each other and obey all the laws and rules.

Yes...EJ is right...am from Dallas and grew up there. Have lots of guys I grew up with and played with that are still very active in the soccer scene with their kids and/or coaching.

@Dubs PM me if you have any specific questions.

Reality for me is that Covid or not I was going to be in Dallas most of the fall for Family and Business obligations, so with Home School, no “real” soccer going in CA it created a unique opportunity. Just rolling with it.

ECNL Texas Schedules if you dig hard enough.
For those that don't know where to dig. Just click on the member directory. It pulls up a list of all the clubs. Click on the club. Towards the top you can pull up the club schedule. Or if you scroll down, click on the individual team by age group to pull it up.

Clicking around there are a number of regions that have their schedules up.
