Texas ECNL and Frontier Conference

Not sure I understand this.

This makes no sense to me. If I read it correctly, it's a 3rd tier league/conference under ECNL-R. So now ECNL is creating and running 3rd tier leagues? What happened to local control of leagues?

Not sure I understand this.
United Soccer Clubs -(USC) is an organization of multiple clubs in the State of South Texas. Texas is broken up into two; North Texas and South Texas and are treated as such. These clubs came together a competitive league back in 2015.

Basically they are being granted an opportunity to play in the ECRL -United Soccer Clubs Division. These are the teams that are playing in that division.

Albion Hurricanes FCLions FC
Ajax SCRise SC
Classics Elite SASan Antonio City
Classics Elite SA Rio Grande ValleySan Antonio Surf
Challenge SCSG1 Soccer Club
Central Texas SurfSting Austin
DynamosSting San Antonio
Houstonians FC

Other than that, I am not sure what is going on.

Not the clearest messaging on how this will work.

The league is split geographically into East and West Divisions, with each division consisting of local league play within the division, and a Champions League for qualifying top teams from each division. Top finishers from the USC Champions League will meet top finishers from the ECNL Girls Regional League – Texas Conference for the opportunity to advance to the 2021 ECNL Open Cup at the Playoffs.

I would assume the clubs listed in the ECRL - United Soccer Clubs Division are the intended pool of clubs being given the opportunity to play into the ECNL Open Cup, but the above statement seems to say the old Champions League (previous top level of local club play within TX) would advance to a playoff with the ECRL TX winner. Guessing this is just poorly crafted, as what would be the point of ECRL - USCD?

I’m hearing Texas ECNL Teams are starting games last weekend of August...can anybody confirm? Also, practice is on-going, scrimmages, and tournaments..just curious if this is true or just rumor?

True.

Practices and tournaments are happening. ECNL schedule isn't out yet but teams know where their first weekend will be.

Lots of restrictions and procedures in place to ensure safety. Parents aren't allowed out of the car at practices. Usually only one parent (with mask) at any games and no other family. Keep 6 feet distance. Times are spread out with gaps in between to avoid crowds or mingling. No benches at games, just socially distanced chairs. Masks worn by players when not on the field. Temp checks prior to any practice or game. Etc.

Seems to be working. Have heard of zero transmissions due to soccer anywhere. Is it ideal? Absolutely not. But kids are getting to play. As long as everyone remains responsible the kids can play with very limited risk of spreading the virus.

Have also heard first 6 weeks will be 1 game per weekend with no overnight stays. Games will be scheduled late in the day to allow travel to and from away sites. Good plan IMO if they can squeeze everything in later in the year. Fingers crossed.

Hmmm, isn't Texas one on the worst covid states right now?

It is. Things aren't good. But it seems the focus is (finally) being properly placed on things that the data shows can slow or stop the spread. Wear a mask. Don't go to places with close indoor contact (bars, theatres, etc.) unless essential. No large gatherings and no crowds at outdoor events (even youth sports). Keep the schools in remote learning a bit longer until this spike (hopefully) subsides.

Fortunately the data so far has pretty conclusively shown that outdoor soccer isn't very risky. That said, not everybody is participating with their teams, especially those who live with high risk family members. But for those who want soccer and can abide by reasonable limitations that lower the risk even further, it's available and happening.

We may be making some calls and going to Texas for the fall...I’m from Dallas (parents still live there) and things are looking like they will get shuttered here. Kids will have remote learning...adults have remote work...unprecedented times we are in.

I thought of every way possible to get my dd one more game in Cali. My wife and I have many options. My poor dd has so many friends she will never leave the beach right now and I dont blame her. Woobie, stay and stand up for rights. This is just getting started. I'm not leaving Cali!!!!!

Haha...I’m from Dallas, grew up there, have many friends and family still there. We visit often. It’s a great place to be from, and even though I have lived in Cali longer than I lived in Texas, I still consider myself a Texan. I am standing up for my rights...my right to extract myself from a bad situation...My kids are still enrolled in school here, we will still vote here, we just may have an extended stay someplace else until things change. Things will change here after the fall, after the election...not a whole lot we can do in the meantime. We can bitch, whine, and complain, but have no power to move the needle in the short-term. Gotta get those bad seeds out and implement term limits. People vote with their feet as well. Businesses leaving, people leaving...The juice may not be worth the squeeze much longer here. We will see what happens in 2022 and how Californians vote. What’s happening in Cali is like a natural disaster...the horns are blowing, we have been warned, time to get out of dodge and come back when it settles down.

I completely understand. Another friend of mine from college sold his house last month and is moving back to Wisconsin. He came out to get Engineer decree at Cal Poly Pomona and met his wife there. They have three kids. He's actually in tech sales and works from home as does mommy. They cant swing this and do a good job. We have a good bye party for them in August. This happening left and right and I mean that both sides of people are out of here. I like Texas because most people have no fear in Texas and are no excuse makers. Socal is soft and always has an excuse.

No, please don't come back. The fewer the people here the better.

What Cope is really saying is this. The fewer people here that dont act like me and think like me can just leave. Cope will get what she wants in imo. Enjoy it all to yourself and your friends. You want it all so go get it because that's what liars and pay to play cheaters were doing with soccer. It's all in your hands and I wont be here either to help you pick up the mess.

Just checking in on the peeps in TX...I hear things are still moving forward and ECNL is still on track to start last weekend in August. Any news to report in the Lone Star State?

Most if not all clubs have been practicing, scrimmaging and participating in tournaments. My DD has been attending her local high school strength and conditioning sessions as well as private conditioning and camps. Her team manager has shared a preliminary ECNL schedule that restricts games to one per weekend. The thought is to eliminate hotel or overnight stays as much as possible. So far, I have not heard of any pause or delay, so the Texas ECNL season seems to be on schedule.

Good to know. We are heading out there next week for a camp. Should be pretty fun in TX for her to see family, friends, and get to play a bit. It amazes me why CA can’t get their shit together and figure it out while other places are. SMH...I guess the leadership in CA is just “smarter” than everywhere else.
