TOP 10 GU 2010

Legends 1, Blues 0. Here’s what I heard... someone who was there can clarify if any of this is off.

No real chances during 1st half, it was very even. Blues turned up pressure in 2nd half and had some chances early. Legends scored on a free kick with about 3 minutes left. Legends had 0 shots during run of play, but had 6-7 free kicks in dangerous positions. All in all even game other than the first few minutes of 2nd half. Legends showed they can play with anyone.

Very nice. Glad to hear they are for real...

I’ll be posting more later. Legends definitely had the set piece chances getting fouled on 1v1 and breakaways. Very even first half no clear chances except for a few free kicks from legends. Ball was mainly in blues defensive half from minute 5-25. second half blues came out strong and had a couple good chances with one outside shot hitting the crossbar. After the first 13 min going more back and forth in the middle legends started creating chances and getting fouled for set pieces and one led to the goal with about 5 min left. Legends also played most of the second half with one of their top forward out. (Apparently sock with the flu). All in all legends wins and again proves they are the real deal now.

The most impressive part of that win is holding the Blues to 0. I can see them moving up to Tier 1 in no time if they keep this streak against the Tier 1 teams. The qualification to move into Tier 1 should be that the team needs to have beat each of the 3 teams at least once, all future games should be competitive and they should have at least 1 big major tournament under their belt.

Absolutely very impressive and again blues had 1 goal scoring chance early second half. Hit the crossbar. Other than that they were not dangerous. Their big #10 was outworked and ineffective the entire game and legends backs weren’t really challenged. Very good at stepping and closing down space and applying pressure. Having said that, again it was a competitive game. It wasn’t as if legends just walked all over blues. Legends just had the better defense and their attack was better today. People will say 0 shots in the run of play but legends was fouled every single time they broke the pressure and were going to goal which led to many free kicks. Blues goalie was by far the busier of the two I don’t recall but legends goalie making 1-2 routine saves rolling to her from 30 yard shots from blues. Blues goalie actually had 2-3 very very good saves. I think again top tier legends must be included. Lost to SDSC 3-1 and could’ve easily won that game. Beat blues now 1-0 with a shutout to blues and all their “offensive firepower”. And legends ties eagles 0-0 and lost in overtime in a tournament in July. So clearly they should be included up there. I’m excited to see state cup results when it comes around. I think legends will only continue developing. Legends hasn’t done blues cup or man city cup because they’re always in the silverlakes or local tournaments and I believe that’s because their coach has older teams that are doing showcases during those times. If you look he had his top team in blues cup so can assume that’s why his littles didn’t play in it. Also, his top team actually tied the #2 team in the nation. Clearly, the coach Shelton knows what he is doing over there in legends riverside With his older 02/01 team and has turned his littles team around and made them a top quality team In the state as well. Great stuff to him and legends riverside and his little legends 2010. Excited to continue to see their growth and hear about their results. Truly think they and SDSC are special teams for that age group.

Also, legends coach was sick and in a sling and let his girls play and didn’t even coach but maybe 2-3 times which shows the quality of his team that they are that sound already and have developed a soccer IQ and understand how to play and the coach has done his job developing them at practice and gets to actually sit back and enjoy watching his team play rather than being up and micro managing them for every little thing. Bright future ahead for them.

With all due respect and admiration you may have a case and I’m sold the Legends team is for real but the one thing in common that all of the top 3 tier 1 teams have is that they have all beaten each other at least once in throughout the process and have won a major tournament. While we can make the argument that Legends only does local tournaments they are yet to beat SDSC and until that occurs is when they should enter the Tier 1 status. Could happen soon. The discipline among the team as a whole is there and the coach seems to embrace it to their advantage

So my only question is. When is the last time eagles beat SDSC or blues. If it’s not within the past 3 months since June on then I don’t see it counting. Teams have reshaped for the new season and results from then on are all that matter. Eagles tied legends. Legends beat blues. Blues beat SDSC. SDSC beat blues. SDSC beat legends. Eagles haven’t beat them recently so again I throw legends in the top tier org confidence.

Congrats to Legends on the win today! They're the real deal without a doubt. It's great to have another team that can give the top dogs a run for their money at this age group.

Eagles will play Legends most likely at Silverlakes Thanksgiving Cup. I see a Legends / Eagles finals unless some NTX or some unknown teams sneaks in. Legends will have home cooking for sure. It’s a great boost for Legends and will play Blues and SDSC one more time in league play. Once league is done, the top dogs will establish itself.

It’s great to see more dogs in the fight and makes tournaments more competitive and exciting. It was only a matter of time for other teams to catch up to the current big dogs As @Luis Andres mentions Ole is another dog in the fight. I’m super excited for remaining league play and upcoming tournaments. The road to finals will be a challenge moving forward.

Keep up the great work on reporting scores etc.

Upcoming tournaments

Silverlakes Turkey (Eagles & Legends)

Surf Turkey (SDSC, Blues, Ole, Surf SD and hopefully Albion and Heat FC (Vegas)

Not to mention the coach kept #4 on the bench for a while to rest her. Had she been in more, Legends would’ve smashed Blues. I hear she’s a real powerhouse!

Some information provided by a team manager with a team playing in f2 league.

Top F2 teams are
1. Real SoCal NR
2. LA Surf / Slammers Cruz / Mora
3. Beach FC I Ayala
4. Chelsea
5-10 ?

based on previous matches and current league records.

Records for F2 north are:
1. RSC NR 6-0-0
2. LA Surf 4-1-1
3. Slammers Cruz (2nd team) 4-2-0
4. Slammers Mora / Beach I Ayala (both are 3-2-1)
6. Slammers Santos 2-1-2

And for the F2 Central, the standings are:
1. Chelsea 5-1-0
2. Legends Gold 4-1-0 (missing a final score)
3. Rebels IE 3-1-1 (missing a match)
4. Slammers McCarty 2-3-1
5. Slammers Estrada 2-4-0
6. OC Surf 0-6-0

South F2 teams?

I can only speak about my daughters team but we have played a few of those teams listed.

Chelsea beat us 3-1
Bermudez/Cruz we tied 2-2
Mora we have played multiple times this season.
We are 1-2-1 vs them. They have improved a lot or added players from earlier, not sure.

In league we are 3-2-1 so far, ugly! We were going thru a rough patch with some changes but it is what it is, our league results so far.

vs Slammers McCarty L 3-1
vs Rebels IE T 1-1
vs Chelsea L 3-1
vs Legends Gold W 8-2
vs OC Surf Carrillo W 5-0
vs Slammers McCarty W 2-0

My bad on the score typo on the other feed, just keeping it real!

I would put Chelsea a little above LA Surf. In the South, I would think the Blues teams are doing well. Leslie has a good team and I haven't seen Moline. Beach has a good team and did well in State Cup last year but don't know how they are doing this year.

State Cup is over and Blues are the champs again. Anyone want to take a crack on the new top 10 for the 9v9 season?

I took a cut at the top 5 on another thread. Here’s a copy/paste of that:

1. Blues- 2 time defending champs, #1 until someone can beat them consistently when it counts. Also should be improved next year with Ole’s top player, and knowing RR I’m sure there are others coming.
2. Albion- The State runner up should be improved with the SDSC players. It will be their first time as a top dog with everyone gunning for them. I’m guessing they will react well, but you never know.
3. SD Surf- State semifinalist is much improved after poaching the top SDSC players.
4. Eagles- They went out in the quarters after some bad luck with injuries and a red card. I have no reason to think they’ve taken a step backwards, it just seems the 2 SD teams have jumped them.
5. Legends- I don’t know what they’re brining in next year, but they beat SDSC and almost got the Blues in the semis. The core is there and they are a real threat to win it all.

Albion and Surf are definitely getting upgraded with the SDSC players. They are the 2 teams that I'm sure everyone is eager to watch next season. I'm very curious to watch these 2 teams myself to see how these SDSC players will fit in with their system. I've made a few friends on a few of these top teams and my sources are telling me that the Blues have also added one other key player that was playing up on a big club in OC. He will not tell me the name or details on what team she was playing for but I'm hearing she is a very technical and dynamic player like the one they picked up from Ole. From what I'm hearing from this parent is that the additions will definitely make their 9v9 game that much better suited for more ball movement and transition into having a very strong midfield now. If he lets me know more details, I will let y'all know. I was also told by my Eagles source that they are making some interesting moves for 3 key quality players from that region. No further details as to who they are or where they are coming from at the moment. I don't have any details on who Legends have added. Maybe someone from Legends like @SoftasPillows can fill us in. They definitely made their mark at state cup and I'm sure they are making their moves as well to add their key pieces for next year's 9v9 transition.

Looking to add 1-2 more players to finalize this roster, if interested please email me. Practices are are Monday and Wednesday’s at the great park and oso fields.
