    Hello Everyone,

I am sure someone may know the answer. I thought DA teams were not allowed to compete against non DA teams in tourneys. I believe that Surf cup is one of the tourneys that US Soccer has recognized.

At Surf Cup there are two DPL teams (Surf 03 DPL Pilot and Galaxy SD DPL Pilot 03) in that grouping. I believe there are 3 or 4 other DPL pilot teams that were put in the U-16 groupings. One would think that at least one U-17 non DA team would deserve the opportunity to play with that division. I personally don't know the U-17 age group but I would think that there would be a team that can compete with the DA teams.

I understand that the DPL 03 pilot program follow the same regiment as DA. Nevertheless, that league is not sanctioned by US Soccer. As I understand they will be allowed to participate in limited number of showcases against DA 03 Pilot from the frontier league.

I don't have a stake in this one way or another. I was just curious because I thought US Soccer was very regimented regarding their participation and rules surrounding their non DA tourneys/showcases.

DA teams need to get approval from the technical advisor and academy staff to compete in outside elite tournaments or international travel. There is nothing in the rules that prevents them from playing non DA teams.

Look at a post by shales1002 at page 23 of the DA and ECNL thread, I believe they simply needed more teams. And since DPL pilots consist of mostly 03 DA players that was probably the most logical choice of teams to fill in.

In the GDA rules they specify that they can play in any tournament that follows GDA rules:
    - length
    - substitution
    - rest
There were a number of tournaments last year that had "GDA compatible" brackets:
    - Surf
    - Disney
    - PF Showcase

Not positive but since the DA season has ended, I believe DA teams as well as individual players can play wherever they want regardless of DA rules.

Pansy I thought you blocked me? I guess you just can’t get enough of me. If you are so sure I am wrong, why don’t you post the rule including section #.

If your team is DA and worried about a pilot team, take care of your business on the field. I never understand the complaining about bracketing - except by teams that are looking to pick up cheap trophies.

Hi Deadpool nice to see you are rating all my posts dumb right now. So sad that I was able to get into your head just because I disagreed with you about tryouts in the rain. You need serious help.

I believe this is correct. I have seen a number of DA teams enter various tournaments during the off-season. Typically it will be a team playing up a division in the highest level bracket. The DA does frown on this, but its not prohibited.
