I need a recommendation on gk pants

My son had a pair of Storelli pants that he tore at the knees after months of repeated use during training (he plays in their padded shorts and we love them). I bought a new pair of Storelli pants and they tore the second time he wore them! I am furious, because they are not cheap.

Does anyone have any recommendation on other brands of pants, tights, other options?

Thank you!
(he's an '06, 5'5"+ and is in between youth and mens sizes)

We have used Storelli and they do seem to tear pretty easily. We even got them patched once. We have tried a bunch and here are my DD's Favorites. She is 5'5 and '06 as well and she Wears Adult Small in these. She usually wears the pants on Turf, or at some training sessions when it is cooler

I feel your pain. My son (05) finally gave up on wearing Storelli pants, but still uses the Storelli top under his jersey. They are not cheap at all. Glad my daughter (also 05 goalie) never liked the Storelli brand.

We wear Elite hip pads with Old Navy brand tights while training on turf 3 days a week and home games on turf.
Those Elites have been very sturdy. Going on well over a year of use 4 times a week.
There are longer ones as well. Phenomenal price too.

Also, I’ve found the Old Navy brand tights to last the longest on turf.
Tested about 4-5 brands.
I can't seem to find Old Navy brand tights on the website. I ordered some from Target. Hopefully they hold up. thanks for the advice.

I am seriously considering just giving up on pants and having him wear tights.

Yeah, Storelli is going to get a big complaint letter from me. At their prices, I would expect those pants to last more than two wearings.

We prefer tights over padded knees. I am more concerned about protecting the hips from impact and the knees from abrasion/turf burn. My son also wears long sleeve dri-fit shirts. Tights and shirts regardless of the temperature.

How do tights protect the hips from impact?

Thanks for asking. The post you quoted is part of a conversation. I was following up that our priorities were hips and turf burn. We haven’t been as worried about padding for the knees.
Initially, I stated that my son used Elite Padded shorts/tights. We are very happy with them and the price is only $35. They have lasted quite well. For preventing knee abrasions on turf, he wears tights (and long sleeve) under his Elites and both under his shorts.

My keeper wears hexpad slidder shorts under his team shorts - https://www.mcdavidusa.com/hextm-girdle-2-pocket

ok GK parents, I need your help. While waiting for the replacement Storelli pants, I picked up some tights from Target (didn't have time to get the Old Navy brand), and my kid wore them to a GK training. He came back to the car COVERED in green turf. This rarely happened with his storelli pants. I went with the pants mostly because I didn't want to have to pick the green turf out of his soccer socks.

So, this is my question, do ALL tights pick up the green turf stuff like a magnet? Would spending an extra $10 on Nike or other brand tights keep the green stuff out? am I just going to have to live with a giant lint roller in my car??;)

As far as removing... I throw them in the dryer with a microfiber towel and it snags all the green turf. I think it's called micro-fiber. It's the kind I always get when going to a car wash place for $1.

Maybe just static if they were unwashed. Wash them and dry with a dryer sheet and you should be GTG.

I’ve found that the turf sticks like crazy to the cotton tights but not at all to the Lycra/nylon tights (the tights that look shinier).
