    How's your girl's 05 season going?

I liked this title from another age group, so I'm stealing it. :)

I've been pleasantly surprised so far with our team. Seems Rondo has been our teams best friend. We had a 8 pass combination this past weekend that ended up with a shot from the left side. The more they do it, the more the girls believe in themselves that they can do it.

My daughter is the keeper, so far so good, 3 games and 3 shutouts in league play.

Season just started for us. 1 game in and 1 W (although my kid played for a different team at the club this last weekend). Will chime in once we have more data. Good luck to all.

3 and 0. 1 goal conceded and we have the Arizona trip out of the way.

Gave up her first goal of the year this past weekend. Two girls went down at the 18, a loud whistle blows, two of her teammates stop, daughter relaxes, then one of the other team picks up the loose ball and shoots from about 15 out. I was recording and the whistle comes from another field next to us at exactly the time both girls are on the ground. Crazy timing. Not sure if she makes the save anyways, but who knows. Tied the game in the 2nd half at 1-1.

On Sunday she sat the bench the whole game with the 02 Premier team that she got to guest play with. She didn't really want to play, way too nervous, but would have jumped in if the keeper's knee kept her out. She has the opportunity to practice with them any time she wants, but she thinks she isn't ready for it.

That's quite an age jump with 3 years. Great honor for her. I am sure in a year or two she will be more than comfortable.

Have you ever had your girls team out shoot the opponent 40-1 and end up tied 0-0. I was ready to give up soccer and become a dance dad again.

I feel the pain. Us dads were dying. This one mom says "A tie is ok' to which another dad says if you like kissing your sister than sure, a tie is ok. At least the girls weren't happy about it. There are a bunch of really nice girls on the team, with a lot of talent, but sometimes they just need a bit of nasty streak.

My DD team (legends south) have dominated almost every game they have played in league so far. We pass more and better, are first to the ball, even shoot more... heck .. one game the other coach was yelling “they are outplaying u badly”.... and we were. (Lost that game by 1) But we have a scoring issue.... and our forwards are fast and skilled.. we are being patient as we have had some success lately. Hopefully our tides have turned. Development is great... So is winning.

Finishing is a skill that few have. Many people have taken shots at Alex Morgan and her skills, but that lady knows how to finish. It was a skill that my daughter seemed to have when she played forward. Wasn't aggressive on 50/50 balls, but put her inside the 18 and she would find a way to score. Now she puts that skill to use keeping forwards from scoring as a keeper. ;)

Our girls ate their Wheaties for our game this past weekend. Two teams tied for first, we get the 4-2 win. 3 backside goals. Pretty sure that is more than we have had all year. Girls were finally attacking the far post, with girls finally passing or shooting for the far post. After a clunker last week that saw us lose 2-0, completely different team.

Fun to watch as a parent, and I mostly kept my mouth shut. Except when they scored on a free kick and I thought my daughter could have made the save and I yell "what happened"? Wife smacks me and I apologize to daughter at half time. Daughter is like huh? Did you say something?. o_O

What a difference a year makes... at this time last year we were 1-8 -1 in league and struggling... A few key additions and improved play all around and now we sit at 6-3-1 having split games with both of the teams ahead of us in the standings (Legends South and OC Surf - Anahiem). It has been a fun season to watch....

Meh. Coach said he was all about development and equal play time...but when in reality he is still treating fall league like it's a big time summer tournament. some players playing close to 100% of the games; others getting maybe 30% game time. I don't understand why coaches don't develop ALL of their players. these are 12 and 13 year old girls. playing scdsl flight 1. who cares if we win or lose, let's develop our players!

League Champions. 10 wins, 1 loss, 3 ties with only 8 goals allowed in 14 games. The team has improved so much. Looking forward to the future.

Our legends south team was able to win our league bracket... and move on to playoffs. They won their first play off game against Force in gnarly wind with PkS. All the girls made their pk. (Hate pks .. was so sad for the girl that missed hers on Force but I guess someone has to miss) We play So Cal hazell on Saturday. Hopefully the wind is not as crazy and everyone can stay healthy! Good luck to the last 4 teams! But mostly to us.

The score for that game shows 7-6, so did the game end in a 6-6 draw and the end result was 7-6 due to PKs ???

It was 1-1. Then went directly into PKs. Our 6 girls made them. I guess the other game ended in PKs too.

That weird. Then the score should of been recorded as 2-1 Legends.
