I will try to watch the girls San Marcos vs Torrey Pines tomorrow. It should be a good battle...

I am curious to see how the boy's oceanside team does. I watched the 1st half of them playing san marcos a few weeks back. oceanside dominated imo, just couldnt produce the goods & ended with a tie. oceanside would have won if it wasnt for an amazing headed goal from a throw-in. I dont believe Neuer could have stopped it from going in.

There are a couple of open division games for regional qualifying that are not on the schedule. Thursday, boys open #4 Point Loma plays #6 Oceanside. The losers from tonight's girls open semi games will also play. I don't remember CIFSD doing this in the past. I was talking to a guy from another command that has a son playing tomorrow. Not sure which school since he mentioned both schools.

Having a playoff for third place eliminates some of the grousing about politics about State seeding. It also strengthens the idea that there will be three State entrants from the San Diego Section Open Division Playoffs.
 
One possibility - 3 teams from SD Open Division, two seeded in State DI, one in State DII. One team from SD DI to State DII. One team each from SD DII and DIII to the two spots in State DIII. SD DIV and DV champions to State DIV and DV.
 
The girls Open, D1 and D2 semi's tonight should be good games. I have only seem one of the D3 - D5 teams so I don't know what those games will be like. The West Hills vs Grossmont game should be a good one since those teams have already played twice and a lot of the players know each other.
 
Wow, I could only stay to watch the 1st half & had to head back to the office....

TP over SM 2-1 @ the half

Pretty even match between the young ladies playing on the field. TP had a few shots on goal vs SM. As the game got going, TP was definitely a bit more physical & that's cool.

Unfortunately, this led to a penalty call in the box against TP, SM 1-0 with about 16min to go.

within the last 10 minutes are so, TP earns a corner & a glorious header finds the back of the net.

This is where it gets very strange...I have never seen a ref get so involved in a game.... He actually played a ball out from underneath him... yep, no joke... maybe someone was there video taping, not me. The ref wasnt in danger & nobody was very close to him as well... he simply played the ball away from himself. Not to mention the lop-sided calls for fouls.....sad.

This statement cant be further from the truth

There were 2 separate 50/50 collisions/incidents, both times the ball was awarded to TP in their half. 1 of the instances the TP came from behind after the ball was played by SM to a SM player near the 50 yard line. Play is whistled to stop. ball is awarded to TP after TP limp's off @ their 32 yard line...

So if a free kick is awarded, after the person takes the kick & the ball strikes a player, is that same person allowed to be the 2nd person to play the ball? Because that is took place to get TP their 2nd goal. I dont recall if it was a indirect or direct kick.... sorry about that.

If it struck another player, the original kicker won't be the "2nd person to play the ball".
 
the 2nd TP goal was beautiful, top far corner... postage stamped curler!
