How are the summer tournament's going so far?
Any big upsets?
Any teams rising up in the ranks?

This past weekend was Rangers Open Tournament in Fullerton and it was a fun couple of days with plenty of games throughout the city.
The 09 age group was won in pretty dominant fashion by Strikers North.

I just saw that Legends beat Slammers Cruz @ Albion cup, anyone see that? How was the game?
Did not see the game.
It was a tough tourney for Slammers Cruz
Group Play
Tied to Legends
Lost to Liverpool
Tied to Blues in semi (Slammers thru in PK)
Lost to Legends

Wow, these summer tournaments can be tough, our team the (Eagles) we had a rough summer last year, worked out some things and finished the year a lot better. This year is going to be very interesting, seems like a lot of the teams are getting better as they get older.

Any new teams that are doing well during these summer Tournaments?

Usually this is the age when you start seeing more teams and better play.

At 9 v 9, final scores will not be as reflective to a teams ability. The same size fields as 7 v 7 but adding 4 more players to the field. I've seen teams pack in all 9 players in the box, and final scores are 1-0. Also, I believe that a lot of mistakes by players are covered up by having 4 more players. Lastly, having goalies punting the ball to the opponents box creates chaos, and doesn't reflect soccer.

I am not an expert but I would think that with more players and crowded spacing, you would see teams that pass quicker and faster do better. Also players with great first touches and dribbling can make a big impact.

I do see Pats Newport Blue doing well as of late and same with strikers north (la habrá). Not sure if they are top 10 but definitely top 20.

We were at Albion...Legends has definitely stepped it up this year...I think this was their first major tournament win? Liverpool started slow but then surprised by beating CDA 4-1 when they were already knocked out.

Looking forward to Surf Cup...will be interesting with all of the out of area teams coming in. Where is MARS when we need him to start hyping up the non Cal South teams?!

I'm here, lol. I don't think the Texas teams coming to Surf Cup will win as long as Slammers PA is there....SoCal will likely dominate the Surf Cup I am thinking. Kids are starting to move around teams down there, jockeying for DA position...

On another note, looks like Rebels Elite are making a move upward with a good win over OC Surf Academy.

Unfortunately Eagles will not be playing in Surf this year, looks like there will be a lot of great teams out there. I think this year there will be a lot of movement, we are seeing it already and season hasn't even started. Good luck to all who are playing in Surf.

Fortunately it sounds like some of that movement was towards your way :). Noticed that you guys picked up the RSC center mid when we played at Man City.

Yes, we picked up 4 new girls (3) from RSC , things are coming together very well. We are playing in Eagles Summer tournament, playing up in 08 bracket, we will see how the girls play this weekend. Man City was a great tournament, the final with the Blues was a fun game to watch, they had a really great mid player that created a lot for them ;)!!!!

There he is!! And he had lived up to his end of the bargain of staying off the board for a while :)

What will be interesting is if any of the out of town teams will tow in guess players, especially from Texas. Good win for Rebels, but not so good result v. Slammers PA (which is understandable).

I'm sure they do...which is fine. I know that if I were going all the way to Texas to play I would make sure I bring a stacked team.

Nope, just keeping watch, lol.

Guess you guys will have to route on Eagles to try and de-throne Slammers PA for the next season. Will be interesting to see how 9v9 effects teams around the country.

Slammers PA looks good moving to 9v9. Seems like Legends and Liverpool will move up in SoCal. I think Rebels will make the biggest move but not into the Top 5 in SoCal.

D’feeters Voutier will continue to rule Texas for another year however, looks like FC Dallas Red JDL will supposedly move way up in Texas...

Michigan Wolves-Hawks out of the Midwest and PDA Legacy from the East will be the best teams from those regions all the way through U-17, ugh.

Watched Legends FC play Slammers MF this morning for the SilverLakes Summer Cup Championship. Legends won 1-0, dominated possession they were only threatened a few times. It was fun to watch them get at it. Also saw Slammers PA play yesterday in the QFs against an 08 Ayso United team, watched the first half Slammers dominated they were up 1-0 at the half. I didn't see the 2nd half and they ended up losing 1-2. They looked like they were missing some players. Not sure if just out this weekend or not but their really talented forward was not there.
