Orthodics

Anyone have any luck with these for heel pain (Severs disease, growing pain, whatever it's called). Broke the bank trying everything else to solve this problem.

My 12 year old son has Severs (he’s grown at least 2 inches since August) and has been miserable the past couple of months. We initially tried the Tulli brand heel cups recommended by his pediatrician with no relief. I finally got him a set of heel seats from Heel that Pain and after a week consistent use he’s been pain-free for the past couple of weeks. I used the same heel seats when I had severe plantar fasciitis and had similar results. A few years ago I recommended the same brand of heel seats for a friend’s daughter who was having severe heel pain and my friend just recently told me her daughter has used them consistently for the past few years and has not had any issues with heel pain since she first started using them. That’s just been our experience and I know results will vary based on anatomy and such, but for $24 they are definitely worth a shot. I just bought my son an extra pair so he doesn’t have to move them back and forth between his shoes and cleats. Good luck!!!

We had the same scenario as @Mom Taxi last fall (same age even). Took son to an orthopedist who made some custom inserts - solved the problem. We're going to need to go up a size here soon ... waiting to finish fall games before sending him back in for another fitting.

Heel pain can also be associated with flat feet. Don’t do heel pads if he or she has flat feet, it could make it worse.

My 10 year old was diagonsed with Severs disease when he was 8. Bought him inserts at Dicks called Soft Soles... he has been pain free for 2 seasons now. Make sure to get one pair for their daily shoes and one for their soccer cleats. It will make a huge difference. Great luck and hope this helps!
