National Cup 2019

Does anyone know how Cal South determines the seeding? I'm not trying to argue who should be seeded where :), but I just want to understand how it was determined. Thanks.
Please, allow me to argue:) Apparently it's a self-serving system for Cal South instead of one based on overall merit. The defending National Cup champs are seeded 14th - with an upgraded roster and an having had an extremely successful season. Must be punishment for Surf not playing in CRL. Way to go Cal South; put your own petty interests ahead of 12 year old girls'.

They did get punished for not playing crl, but I don’t know that it was intentional or due to “petty interests” of cal south. Funny thing is that they probably didn’t play crl because they initially thought they would be playing ecnl this year (and you can’t play ecnl and crl). Too bad as I think two of the three teams that are the heavy favorites to win it all will probably end up meeting in quarterfinals now. On a side note, I wish the ecnl teams could play national cup so all the top teams in SoCal were competing.

3rd In the country and 14th in CalSouth...makes perfect sense

You can play ECNL and CRL. Look at the 05's, Arsenal and Strikers are in both leagues, and they are both playing in National Cup. Same with DPL teams, they are in both DPL, CRL and playing in National Cup.

You may be right; "petty", may not be the correct term but self-serving fits. They are basing their rankings primarily on CS selected parameters that benefit them. Either way, the team that wins is going to have to beat good teams. The Surf girls earned the right to have a better draw and clearly one of the best teams will be out in the quarters and one team MAY have a much less difficult path to the finals. That's not how the State Championship Tournament is supposed to work. One thing for sure, it will be fun to watch. Good luck to all the girls!

So this is not the Surf team ranked #3 in Group F?

If they are truly that much better than all the other teams it shouldn't matter where they are seeded.
