Game Score after PKs

Can any referees please clear this up for me? (and hopefully other referees too!)

I've seen, and my DDs involved in, games where they've tied a game and either won or lost on KFTM.

Scenario: game was tied 0-0 between team A and team B, and then goes to PKs which are won by team A 4-2.
I've seen three ways the referees have officially recorded the result which clearly is not the consistency or clarity that referees are supposed to provide.
X) 1-0
Y) 0-0
Z) 4-2

Which is correct? I'm pretty sure it's not the last one but I've been wrong before and is why I'm seeking clarification.

BTW, thank you for all the work you do, referees! I'm a parent who truly appreciates the difficulty of the job and the way you help grow the game.

I like 0-0 (4-2), recorded as a draw in the standings.

It all depends on the gaming authority (league or tournament). In your scenario I have had to report the score as 1-0, 0-0(4-2) and 4-2. It all depends on what the gaming authority tells the referee association which tells me what to do. Most of the time it is either scored as 1-0 or 0-0(4-2). I have rarely recorded the score as just 4-2.

Most of the time KFTM will be done in the elimination rounds and the team winning KFTM will be recorded in the standings as a win. I do work one adult league that requires a winner for every game so if we have a tie and have to go to KFTM then the team winning KFTM has one goal added to their score, 1-0.

Agreed, that's the best way. But perhaps not possible with the youth soccer scores reporting software.

Thank you for the thorough answer. That gaming authority part explains the differences. Sorry it's not just one rule for you guys to follow...... but the would make things too easy I guess :)

Glad that recording at 4-2 is the most rare as it's certainly the least accurate. Fully understood that often a winner (with one goal added to their score) is demanded. Thanks again!

Fix the software.
