Above is a link to our local soccer forum. I noticed several CA teams in the brackets, and thought some of you may be interested in commenting, or following their progress. It is one of the premier tournaments in the country and has teams from all over the world. http://www.dallascup.com/tourn/sked.html

The U17 National Champions, Dallas Texans Red 88, set Dallas Cup history with a 4-2 win over Santos Laguna of Mexico. Dallas area teams took home five of the possible seven Dallas Cup Championships. This was the first Super Group championship that was won by an American team since Dallas Cup added the Super Group in 1990.
Other Super Group clubs featured included Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers of England, Real Madrid of Spain, Eintracht of Germany and FC Groningen of the Netherlands, all of which have teams in the top divisions in their respective countries. Also competing were Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica, along with Tigres and CF Monterrey of Mexico and Consadole Sapporo of Japan. In the U-12 championship the Texas Longhorns from Dallas, Texas defeated Rampage FC from Nortridge, California 3-1. In the U-14 championship Cobb FC Premier from Powder Springs, Georgia defeated MTY San Nicolas from Monterrey Mexico 2-0. In the U-15 title match Kendall Soccer Coalition White from Miami, Florida defeated CF Monterrey from Mexico 2-1. In the Under 16 title game, the Dallas Texans defeated Solar, also from Dallas, on penalty kicks (5-4). The U-17 title went to Solar from Dallas in a 2-0 victory against Tigres from Mexico. FC Texas Black, the FC Dallas MLS youth club affiliate, claimed the U-19 title with a 3-1 victory against Knowsley Youth of England. (looks stronger in U16 and down to me, although the regualar U19 DC brackets are never super-tough due to the time of the year. |

This tournament was really exciting, i hope every kid has the opportunity to play there at least once in their playing years.
i really expected more from the california teams especially in the U12 and U16 bracket. I think it was a first time for many teams and they did not know what to expect. Allowing guest players was really to the dallas teams, they seemed to know what to expect and what to do. Most of the California teams felt that they did not need guest players and paid the price for it. To win this tournament you need a full rooster with depth in every department. i really thought that the california teams would dominate in most of the age groups. I guess we were not as good as we thought, bearing in mind that only one california team managed to get to the final |

Why were no teams from Arsenal ( Loma Linda Ca.) at Dallas Cup. Their U17 Boys team is currently the National Champs.
Congratulations to Coach David Hudgell of the Dallas Texans, he was won two National Championships and two Dallas Cups in the last 10 Months. |

I wondered about that too. U17 2006 DC champ Solar lost to Arsenal in the DC final at U14 I think, and the last 2 years running in the national final game. I was hoping to see yet another rematch. Every game has been close and well worth watching. I am not connected to either team except I saw their DC game a few years back and the final game last summer.

Shows what you can win with guest players. Cal South and Coast Soccer are still the class of the country. Nice win by the U19 Texans.

I watched some of the Texas teams play this year in the U11-13 age group - girls side in Sereno. It looks like most the teams are fielding bigger players, play harder to the ball/person and in the back boom it out, instead of connecting them out through the midfield. Question is - do you think there is a difference in the training from CA to TX style of play? I saw some great teams. I saw a difference in Texans Red style of play then the others as well. Just wondering - who knows if we will ever move back to Dallas. But if we do it is great to see the competitions there for my kids. |

This is where their skills are developed. The teams do attract large players, Bonnis U17 Longhorns Boys team is the largest team I have ever seen anywhere. Most of the California teams play Mexico style, up the side lines and across the center type of soccer. I do beleive the indoor factor cannot be ignored. |

The only guest player was Jeff H, who played for the Texans 87 team (which won the U18 Nationals and was also coached by David Hudgell).
