Nice going CSL. We really need to see bronze teams givng up 10+ goals. Maybe next year you won't be so brain dead and go back to giving first round byes to all the gold and silver elite teams. Not sure what you knuckleheads were thinking this year. I'm sure those teams just loved driving to San Bernardino (or wherever) to give up 10 or 15 goals. And I'm sure it was worth it for the winners too. rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes

I heard on the field this had more to do with some school testing and the date of the testing's encroachment on the number of play dates available.
My only complaint is that CSL didn't communicate their plans to change the format in advance of asking teams to participate as when we were evaluating our decision, we factored in a bye week. As a result, we were missing two starters yesterday and I would rather of not risked an injury with two league games remaining.

I totally agree. Why not let the first round be soccer instead of a bad scrimmage. It wasted the time of both the silver elite teams and the bronze teams. It was no more useful to the top teams to stomp a developmental team then it was for these bronze teams to play so far out of thier bracket. It there was a team that could compete they would make it through anyway.
This would be like combining State Cup with National Cup. Game after game of wasted time until the 75th round.

What is really sad is that a fair number of these Bronze teams that got hammered are new to CSL. This format was a rude introduction to the league's tournament if they were in fact first time participants. The only positive spin I could fathom a bronze coach making is to allow his team to see how far they are from the upper echelon of teams. But I stand by my earlier premise, it's a fool of a coach that enters his bronze team into a Gold level tournament (or conversely, a upper level team entering a bronze tourney) which is essentially what happened here and not by choice.
Two and out. Thanks for coming!

It's worse than this. It's two & out with a -18 goal differential. No one gains from this. Bad show by the league.

Looks like the SES teams had an easier time keeping down the goal differential than the SEN. But from what I saw, the SE teams cleared their benches after the first 15-20 minutes. Some didn't even think of starting their first XI, and at least one had a field player 'tween the sticks. Next round has a number of interesting matchups.

Two silver elite teams eliminated:
OYSA Wave (SEN)-knocked out by the L.A. Rampage.
I.E. Strikers (SES)-Didn't lose a game, giving up a goal to Cypress Pumas killed them. This allowed the one bronze teams to survive (Santa Ana DSP AD Hawks).
Poor seeding has left the top silver elite teams with tougher brackets than the some of the teams below them. Arsenal & South Bay SC have easier brackets than ISC and LAFC.
Pools BZ, CA, CB & CC have the most interesting match-ups.
(What's up with Pool CD?)

Pool CD is a CSL input error or Hoops don't have to play anyone since they advance as the pool winner already and have been slotted to play in the round of 16's.
Predictions to Final 16:
Pool BO - Barcelona (G)
Pool BP - Force (G)
Pool BQ - Slammers (G)
Pool BR - VUSC Blast Red (G)
Pool BS - VUSC Blast (G)
Pool BT - Real So Cal (G)
Pool BU - WCFC (G) but will depend on their ability to score against Fram. They may give them a run for it.
Pool BV - LAFC Black (SN) will out play Real So Cal Blue (G)
Pool BW - Patedores (SS) will give harps a run for it. Tough pool.
Pool BX - Arsenal (SES). Knocks of DBMV (G)
Pool BY - South Bay SC (SEN). Knocks of FC Barcelona Blue (G)
Pool BZ - LAFC (SEN). Tough pool with PSG and Cruz Azul but LAFC very motivated to make Premier
Pool CA - ISC Strikers (SES) another toough pool pulling higher teams than Arsenal of the same bracket .
Pool CB - ASC Express (SES).
Pool CC - CITY Strikers (SEN). Suggest UFC has been inconsistent and may fall short in one of the pool games.
Pool CD - Hoops already advance
Always one of the better weekends of the year to watch the bracket leaders battle it out for the top 16 slots.
