View Full Version : Circuit Discussion
Guest from the South 08-16-2004, 06:34 PM OK, Presidio says all the circuits have been finalized as of 8/10 and can be distributed. So where is this distribution?
I'd also like to discuss some of these circuits. Anyone willing to post some brackets? Any word on when they will be posted?
Jason 08-16-2004, 10:59 PM I have been waiting what feels like forever for Presidio to post the brackets, or circuits, for their upcoming league season. Seems like they should be up by now, whats the hold up???

All coaching directors should have their Clubs circuits. In fact, all coaches should have them. I know some coaches who have seen them, but didn't write them down and don't remember them, thinking the schedule would be up by now anyway (oops  ).Why Presidio hasn't posted them while we all are waiting for the schedule software to work is beyond me. Not very impressive management on this issue.

Jason 08-23-2004, 03:02 PM I sure hope that Presidio posts their schedules here shortly. This makes the league look very unprofessional. CSL has had their brackets up for a few weeks now, and updates them weekly if teams drop out or fold. How does Presidio compete with Coast? What draws people to play in the Presidio league rather than the better organized Coast league?

Neither league is perfect and has their fair share of complaints. I'd rather fix Presidio then jump to Coast. Both leagues I think lack schedules, and as a parent that's a greater interest then just circuits, although I am curious to see the circuits too. Both leagues should post a firm deadline for schedules to be released, at least 3 weeks in advance.

You've bash'd Presidio here based on something that is not true: CSL has not distributed their schedules either and will not until about 10 days before the first match is played (late night August 31). I don't see how Presidio is doing any worse than this.
Yes - they were late getting their circuits (brackets) out. They are, however, out. No real complaint about that either. They chose not to distribute them beyond the clubs & coaches until the appeals process is completed. That is different from CSL - not better, not worse, just different. Besides, with far fewer teams involved they have a much easier time getting through all the appeals.
Predisio runs a fine competition league. They do not "look unprofessional" compared to ours. If anything, CSL is the one that looks unprofessional for allowing their preliminary schedules to leak...
ncdad 08-23-2004, 09:26 PM They removed the seeding/appeals timeline that they had in red lettering under the notices section, although the date for last updated is still the same (July). Shall we start a wagering pool for when the schedules might be released? :)

My bet: Same day as CSL. Late night 8/31 - no later than 9/1. If they miss that, well, let the bashing begin ('cuz they'll deserve it). If they do better, well, that's just a bonus.

You likely hit the nail on the head.
My Bet: target of 8/27, but last minute reviews and changes make it 8/30.
Guest from the South 08-24-2004, 03:18 PM Presidio appeals were over before 8/10. Coaches/Clubs complaining about this is what continues. If they'd just publish the brackets it would be great...and yes, scheduling should be interesting...isn't this the year they're talking about doing Sat/Sun games for the first 5 weeks instead of 3 weeks (U14 and above)? My bet on schedules is sometime the weekend of 8/28-29...let's hope for sooner.
NorthSDCounty 08-24-2004, 09:28 PM According to the presidio website...
2004/2005 PRESIDIO LEAGUE GAMING SCHEDULES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THIS WEB SITE LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
Jason 08-24-2004, 11:11 PM If the schedules are going to be made available on Thursday afternoon then that is great. I would commend Presidio for getting schedules out before Coast distributes theirs.
I wish Coast would make theirs available before they distribute them to the coaches at that coaches night.
Does Presidio have a coaches night like the one that Coast has?

No Coaches Night that I'm aware of. The brackets were present for review at our last in-club coaches meeting (please don't ask which club) , and a hard copy of the schedule will be passed out at the next coaches meeting at the beginning of the month, although it will already (fingers crossed) be posted on the Presidio website. I'll see it when the rest of the World sees it!

Just checked the site and it's great to see the re-formatting of the schedule page. It would be fantastic to go to practice tonight and tell everyone they can check it out, or better yet, I can print out copies to distribute. :)

It's been determined that in order to play this season, you have to be a member in good standing at the Psychic Friends Network.
Bubbalouie 08-27-2004, 10:30 AM Jason: How about changing the font size of your posts to a size we can all read without going blind doing so.
CSL needs just about every minute of the time it takes to prepare it's schedule. Help me if I am wrong but doesn't CSL have close to 2800 teams to what, maybe 800 hundred for Presidio? How many counties does the CSL league encompass as opposed to Presidio?
And personally, I much rather have my game scores the evening of the play date (as opposed to the standard Presidio four days) rather than worry about getting my kid's game times weeks before the league season.
And yes, there is a method behind CSL's madness to not publish their schedule prior to the Coach's night.
boingo 08-27-2004, 11:16 AM CSL: 1,860 teams (from "by the numbers" at www.coastsoccer.com)
Presidio: ~800 teams (last season Presidio ran 102 circuits - assuming 8 teams/circuit average).
It is a 2:1 size difference, not the David/Goliath thing people seem to want to talk about here.
No matter. Both leagues should have schedules out about the same time. Both leagues are doing well. Can't wait till the season starts and we can start discussing soccer again...

Well you DID notice they didn't put a date next to "Thursday!" LOL
Reminds me of those junk-mail sweepstakes things saying...Call within 4 days of receiving this...well, how do THEY know when I got it!?
ncdad 08-30-2004, 02:30 PM Delayed due to several Clubs being unhelpful in suppling field info. :(
Jason 08-31-2004, 11:13 AM Let's hope that those clubs get together and turn in their field info, because that would sure help. Coast gets theirs up tonight, it would be nice if Presidio could too.

Apparently they were turned in either by hand Sunday, or by some means on Monday. They're running the schedule program, then double checking it. Maybe by Wednesday.
Jason 09-01-2004, 03:17 PM Alright, I said that I would commend Presidio if they got their schedules out before Coast. That didn't happen and it's too bad. Now the question is just when will Presidio finally get theirs out? We're 10 days away from the first games, and no schedule.

Regardless of the business, when you put a new system into place, you always factor in additional time for mistakes and errors. All info and appeals should have been on a tighter deadline considering Presidio's use of a new scheduling system. I applaud the choice and intent of the new system, the execution has left something to be desired.
